Crime Lab Internships
The laboratory offers student intern, graduate intern, and other volunteer programs to individuals who wish to work in the laboratory for a limited period of time to gain valuable experience.
Laboratory Volunteers work under the direction of either technical or nontechnical staff and may perform any duties related to laboratory operations. Volunteers should be at least 18 years of age.
Student Interns are university level students with at least two years of college experience. These interns work under the direction of an analyst on a specific technical project.
Graduate Interns are graduate level students who work under the direction of an analyst on a specific technical project. At the end of the project, these interns supply the laboratory with a copy of their thesis, prepare a display, and present their research to laboratory staff.
The following is the general schedule for student and graduate intern programs:

November/December – Accept project proposals from laboratory staff or universities

January/February – Accept internship applications

March – Intern interviews

April/May – Intern background checks

Late May/June – Summer interns begin projects

September – Graduate interns begin projects
