CASE: Juan Soto (Case #22FE016930)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Katherine Martin, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution

On July 25, 2025, the Honorable Donald Currier sentenced Juan Soto to 17 years and 1 month to life in state prison.  On June 12, 2025, a jury found Soto guilty of assault with intent to commit rape during a residential burglary, residential burglary, indecent exposure in a residence, indecent exposure, and five counts of peeking.  The jury also found true an allegation that the burglary and indecent exposure in a residence were committed with planning and sophistication.

From January 2020 to July 2021, Soto prowled the neighborhoods of Midtown, Elmhurst, and Sandra Heights.  Soto’s victims saw him peeking at them from outside when they were inside of their homes.  In one instance, Soto stood outside a victim’s bedroom window before entering her home wearing women’s underwear and exposing himself.  Soto continued to expose himself when he approached the victim’s bedroom door. The victim called 911 and Soto fled the home.  Responding officers located cigarette butts with Soto’s DNA and a pair of women’s underwear. In another instance, Soto entered the sleeping victim’s bedroom through an open window.  When he climbed on top of the victim and pinned her arms down, the victim woke up and screamed. Soto fled the home, but sheriff’s crime scene investigators recovered Soto’s fingerprints and DNA from the windowsill he used to enter and exit the residence.
