On May 26, 2026, LaRalph Choyce was convicted by a jury of robbery.

On June 19, 2025, LaRalph Choyce met the victim at an elementary school to buy a drone from him. After flying the drone, Choyce took out a firearm and pointed it at the victim before taking the drone and fleeing in his vehicle. Choyce was found hiding in the closet of a nearby residence. His vehicle was located in the parking lot of that residence with the drone inside the trunk.

Allegations that Choyce has two prior strike convictions for robbery will be determined at the sentencing hearing.

Choyce faces a maximum potential sentence of 35 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for August 14, 2026, at 9:00 AM in Department 9D before the Honorable Allison Williams.
