On January 16, 2026, the Honorable Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Michael Mayfield to 35 years to life in prison. On September 11, 2025, Mayfield was convicted by a jury of sodomy of an unconscious person. Allegations that Mayfield has prior strike convictions for lewd act with a child under 14 years old and burglary were found true as well as aggravating factors.
In April 2021, Mayfield and the victim were out together and had some drinks. The victim became very intoxicated and did not remember how she got home or how she got into bed. She woke up the next morning with her clothes on inside out and her underwear was wet. She also had pain in her jaw, arms and anus. The victim had a sexual assault exam, which revealed Mayfield’s sperm in her underwear and on her chest. Mayfield’s cell phone revealed he had pornographic photos of sexual acts involving sodomy.
