CASE: Immanuel Gardner (Case #24FE011291)

On October 20, 2025, Immanuel Gardner was convicted by a jury of attempted murder and felon in possession of a firearm. The jury also found true allegations that Gardner intentionally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury and that the crime involved great violence.

Gardner and the victim did not know each other. On June 21, 2024, Gardner and the victim exchanged words in the parking lot of Diamond Billiards in Rancho Cordova.  Gardner went into his car and retrieved a semi-automatic firearm.  Gardner then began punching the victim. After the victim got away, Gardner continued to pursue the victim and ultimately fired three rounds at the victim. The victim suffered massive internal injuries, but he survived.  Another individual ran out of Diamond Billiards and shot Gardner, who then fled the scene.  Gardner was apprehended down the road from Diamond Billiards.

Gardner faces a maximum sentence of 34 years and 8 months to life in prison. Sentencing is set for December 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Department 32 before the Honorable James Arguelles.
