PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Teal Ericson, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit
The Honorable David Bonilla sentenced Reshadd Hudson to 32 years in prison. On May 24, 2024, a jury convicted Hudson of two counts of lewd acts upon a child and three counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child.
Hudson was a youth basketball coach who informally assisted at an elementary school. During that time, he forcibly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 14 years old. Hudson molested the victim, forced her to orally copulate him and held the victim down on the ground while he did the same to her. Hudson told the victim nobody would believe her if she told anyone. The victim eventually disclosed the assaults to her family. Hudson later admitted to the sexual assaults.
Under current California law, Hudson (age 34) will become eligible for release at an Elder Parole hearing once he reaches the age of 50 and only serves 20 years of his 32-year sentence. With his in-custody credits, that will be in approximately 18 years when he is age 52.
