Defendant Convicted of Sexually Assaulting, Raping a Minor
DATE: February 1, 2024
CASE: Kemoni Tobin (Case #22FE011091)
PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Courtney Martin, Human Trafficking Unit
On January 31, 2024, Kemoni Tobin was convicted by a jury of sexual assault of a victim 14 years old or older, forcible rape of a minor 14 years old or older and unlawful sexual intercourse with a victim more than three years younger.
On November 5, 2021, the 15-year-old victim agreed to meet and socialize with another teenager. Twenty-year-old Kemoni Tobin was also there. The three went to the other teenager’s apartment, where the victim was left alone with Tobin in the living room. When the victim declined to have sexual relations with Tobin, he sexually assaulted and forcibly raped her. A report was made to law enforcement, and the victim submitted to a sexual assault examination. The examination and subsequent laboratory testing confirmed the presence of Tobin’s DNA.
Tobin faces a maximum sentence of 21 years in prison. Sentencing is set for February 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in Department 29 before the Honorable Delbert Oros.
