PROSECUTOR: Principal Criminal Attorney Paris Coleman, Homicide Unit
Jonathan Autry was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Rocky Pastorino.
On March 23, 2021, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office received multiple requests to perform a welfare check on the victim. When deputies entered the victim’s apartment, the bedroom door was closed and locked. Deputies believed the victim was inside the bedroom and instructed him to open the door. They heard a person inside the room reply, “no” in a low voice. The victim’s daughter was in the apartment with deputies and stated that was not her father’s voice. As deputies prepared to kick the door open, they heard a window open and blinds moving from inside the bedroom. Deputies ran outside and saw Jonathan Autry running away from the apartment. Deputies contacted Autry and took him into custody. The victim was later found deceased inside the locked bedroom. The coroner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Autry faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for October 27, 2023, at 9:30 am in Department 32 before the Honorable James Arguelles.
