CASE: Darryl Washington (Case #21FE007364)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Lauren Giles, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Darryl Washington pled to three counts of lewd and lascivious acts by force with a child under 14 years of age and three counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age.  Washington admitted to aggravating factors: that the victims were particularly vulnerable; that Washington took advantage of a position of trust or confidence to commit the offenses; and that Washington’s prior convictions as an adult are numerous and of increasing seriousness.  Washington also admitted to prior strike convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence with great bodily injury.

Washington began sexually assaulted the first victim in 2012 when the victim was 8 years old. The abuse continued until 2021 when the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother. The second victim was 11 years old at the time of the abuse and at the time of disclosure.

Washington will be sentenced to 150 years to life in state prison.  Sentencing is set for May 5, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 21 before the Honorable Shelleyanne Chang.
