CASE: Antwain West (Case #20FE009626)

Antwain West was convicted by a jury of two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and two counts of discharging a firearm from a vehicle.  The jury also found true personal use of a firearm and great bodily injury enhancements.

On June 18, 2020, Antwain West drove through Oak Park and around McClatchy Park several times looking to do a retaliatory shooting on rival gang members.  He stopped his car on 5th Avenue and shot multiple times into McClatchy Park, hitting two juvenile gang members.  One was shot in the face and one was shot in the chest, both victims survived.  Officers responded to West’s residence and observed West driving up to his home.  Officers located an unregistered firearm and several shell casings inside the vehicle.

An allegation that West has a prior strike conviction for residential burglary will be determined at the sentencing hearing.

West faces a maximum sentence of 67 years and 4 months to life in state prison. Sentencing is set for May 19, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.in Department 29 before the Honorable Delbert Oros.
