Defendant Sentenced to 30 Years Prison for Child Sexual Assault

The Honorable Helena Gweon sentenced Manuel Olivares to 30 years in prison.  On July 22, 2022, a jury convicted Olivares of five counts of child molest by force.  The jury also found true multiple aggravating factors, including vulnerable victim and that Olivares took advantage of a position of trust.

The victim knew and trusted Manuel Olivares. Beginning in July 2018, Olivares sexually assaulted the then 8-year-old victim multiple times.  The assaults included forcible sodomy.  DNA found on bedsheets where the victim was sexually assaulted was a match to Olivares.
