Defendant Convicted of Ambush Murder

DATE: October 7, 2022

CASE: Isaiah Frazier (Case #20FE000092)

PROSECUTOR: Principal Criminal Attorney Satnam Rattu, Homicide Unit

Isaiah Frazier was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Nehemiah Barksdale.  The jury also found true the allegation that Frazier personally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury or death.

In the early morning hours of December 27, 2019, Frazier disguised himself and ambushed the victim while he was seated in the passenger seat of a car in a fast food drive through. Frazier walked up to the vehicle the victim was in and fired seven shots, striking the victim four times. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he died. The recovered weapon used in the murder was a ghost Glock gun.

An allegation that Frazier has a prior strike conviction for active participation and furthering a criminal street gang in felony conduct will be determined at the sentencing hearing.

Frazier faces a maximum sentence of 81 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for October 28, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 40 before the Honorable Steve White.
