The Honorable Matthew Gary sentenced Marquess Wilson to 37 years to life in prison. On December 14, 2021, a jury convicted Wilson of two counts of first-degree robbery with use of a firearm, first-degree residential burglary and felon in possession of a firearm. The Court found true allegations that Wilson has a prior 2011 strike conviction for assault with a firearm and a prior 2014 strike conviction for battery with serious bodily injury.
On December 11, 2020, Wilson confronted the victim on her driveway, pointed a gun at her and demanded she let him into her house. While inside the house, Wilson stole items totaling more than $30,000. Wilson then went into the victim’s 9-year-old son’s room while he was playing video games. Wilson stole the son’s video game console and phone. Law enforcement recovered some of the stolen property from the trunk of Wilson’s wife’s car. Wilson was arrested, but the firearm was never recovered.
