CASE: Charles Young (Case #21FE017018)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Scott Schweibish, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit

Charles Young was convicted by a jury of forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object of an unconscious person.

On October 3, 2021, Charles Young attended a house party hosted by the victim’s boyfriend.  Around midnight, the victim and her boyfriend went to sleep and closed down the party.  At approximately 1:30 a.m., the victim stated she felt somebody engaging in sexual acts with her.  She assumed it was her boyfriend and never opened her eyes. She then felt that person aggressively grab her, which startled her awake.  The victim soon realized it was Young engaging in sexual acts with her, not her boyfriend. When the victim screamed, she awoke her boyfriend and they both screamed until Young fled.  Young denied having contact with the victim, but DNA confirmed it was Young who committed the sexual acts with the victim.

Young faces a maximum sentence of 8 years in prison.  Sentencing is set for October 7, 2022, at 9:00 am in Department 33 before the Honorable Laurel White.
