CASE: Raymond Silvian Rodriguez (Case #20FE002762)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Sonia Satchell, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit

The Honorable Michael Sweet sentenced Raymond Silvian Rodriguez to 13 years in prison.  On March 25, 2022, a jury convicted Rodriguez of assault with intent to commit rape, false imprisonment and sexual battery.  The judge found Rodriguez had two prior robbery strike convictions. His sentence was doubled with one of these strike priors.

In February 2020, Rodriguez attacked a woman at Pecan Park in Orangevale. He grabbed the victim’s breasts and told her he was going to rape her.  The victim ran towards her car, but Rodriguez pursued her and blocked her from opening the car door.  During this time, Rodriguez continued to make lewd statements about raping the victim. When another woman at the park distracted Rodriguez, the victim escaped and called the Sheriff’s Office.  Rodriguez was later found and arrested at a liquor store. While pending trial, Rodriguez exposed himself to a jail nurse who also testified against him.
