Lorenzo McCoy was convicted by a jury of the second-degree murder of Onaje Lynch.  The jury also found true a personal use of a firearm allegation.

On December 7, 2020, McCoy and the victim got into an argument behind the Wienerschnitzel in Del Paso Heights. McCoy approached the victim and put a loaded, cocked pistol to his chest.  A struggle ensued and the gun fired, hitting and killing the victim. At the time of the murder, McCoy was on probation from a 2019 felony assault and was prohibited from possessing a firearm.  The firearm used in the murder was never recovered.

McCoy faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for June 3, 3022, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 23 before the Honorable Curtis Fiorini.
