Defendant Convicted for First-Degree Murder of 15 Year Old

Christopher Simpson was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Macy Murphy. The jury also found true a use of gun enhancement.
Simpson and the 15-year-old victim were in the same circle of friends. On May 29, 2016, Simpson shot the victim in the back of the head while she was sitting in a car. It is believed Simpson perceived the victim had disrespected him. The firearm used in the murder was never recovered.
Simpson faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for January 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Department 17 before the Honorable James Arguelles.
