One Arrested for EDD fraud and possession of illegal weapon

A joint investigation by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office based on numerous EDD applications made in the name of state prison inmates resulted in a search warrant executed on October 3, 2021, at the Natomas home of Tanesha Ross.  During the course of the search,  officers found an illegally possessed FN-9 handgun, evidence of EDD fraud and $50,000 in cash. Ross was arrested and is currently scheduled to be arraigned on October 12, at 3:00 pm in Department 62 of the Sacramento Superior Court.

According to District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert, “We continue to see staggering amounts of fraudulent EDD activity combined with illegal firearms in our communities.  This dangerous combination undoubtedly has fueled a dramatic increase in violent crime throughout the state. Sacramento’s law enforcement agencies will continue to partner together to investigate EDD fraud and the havoc it brings to our community.”
