CASE: Danyyil Moskvych (Case #21FE002233)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Brandon Jack, Felony Teams

Danyyil Moskvych was convicted by a jury of torture, battery causing serious bodily injury, and first-degree robbery. The jury also found true the allegation that Moskvych caused great bodily injury during the commission of the robbery.

Moskvych and the victim shared a residence with their own separate rooms. In January 2021, Moskvych took an extended trip out of the country. During that trip, the property landlord removed Moskvych’s belongings from his room and told the victim Moskvych was not returning. The landlord also told the victim he could move into Moskvych’s room, which the victim ultimately did. On February 4, 2021, the victim was asleep in his bed when he awoke to Moskvych standing over him. When Moskvych accused the victim of taking his property, the victim tried to explain the misunderstanding. Moskvych then attacked the victim by strangling him and punching him 20 to 30 times in the head, face, and body. The victim began to lose consciousness, at which point Moskvych duct taped the victim’s arms and legs together and continued to punch the victim in the face five to 10 times. The victim then offered Moskvych his wallet to stop the beating. Moskvych took the wallet, forced the victim to give up his pin numbers, placed tape over the victim’s mouth, and left the residence with other items belonging to the victim. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, including numerous fractures to his face.

Moskvych faces a maximum sentence of 16 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for November 19, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 29 before the Honorable Geoffrey Goodman.
