CASE: Randy Maestas (Case # 18FE022527)

PROSECUTOR: Principal Criminal Attorney Nancy Cochrane, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

The Honorable Donald Currier sentenced Randy Maestas to 34 years in prison. On June 15, 2021, Maestas pled to forcible rape and 10 counts of committing a lewd act upon a child.

In 1999, Maestas was charged with forcibly raping a 17-year-old girl. That case was investigated and charged, but for various reasons the case was dismissed.  In 2018, two additional female victims disclosed that Maestas had abused them. The victim from the 1999 rape agreed to cooperate with the re-filing of her crime along with the two additional victims.

Before the sentencing hearing today, the first victim and the two additional victims knew of each other but had never met.  This morning, the first victim and one of the victims from the 2018 case met in person for the very first time. They are biologically related.

Both victims spoke eloquently at the sentencing hearing and the Court followed the stipulated plea sending Maestas to prison pursuant to the 34-year plea agreement.
