CASE:  Michael Bruhn (Case #19FE017469)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Monica Robinson, Domestic Violence Unit

Michael Bruhn was convicted by a jury of stalking his ex-girlfriend while a restraining order was in effect.  The jury also found true that Bruhn suffered a prior felony stalking conviction.

The victim broke up with the Bruhn in 2017. From 2017 through 2018, Bruhn abused the victim, vandalized her property, and threatened to kill her. Bruhn was convicted in both 2017 and 2018 of stalking the victim.  In 2019, Bruhn was released from prison after serving only half of his prison commitment. Within months of being released from prison, Bruhn began contacting the victim, in violation of the restraining order. The victim contacted the Sacramento County Probation Department, who investigated and later arrested Bruhn.  A forensic search was conducted on Bruhn’s electronic devices that revealed he had been researching ways to kill the victim.

Bruhn has domestic violence and stalking convictions going back to 2001 against multiple women.

Bruhn faces a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.  Sentencing is set for April 14, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 37 before the Honorable Kevin Culhane.
