On February 26, 2021, the Honorable Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Tajmal Sharrieff to 595 years to life in prison. On December 7, 2020, a jury convicted Sharrieff of seven counts of committing a lewd act on a child. It was also found true that Sharrieff has three prior strike convictions.
Sharrieff was found guilty of rape by means of force and assault with intent to commit a felony in Sonoma County and was sentenced to prison in 1982. In those two separate sexual attacks, Sharrieff victimized strangers. In one case, he approached a 13-year-old victim while he was wearing a mask. He threatened to kill her, dragged her down a driveway and raped her. Sharrieff threatened to rape her anally if she did not orally copulate him, so the victim complied. In the other case, Sharrieff wore a mask when he approached a 19-year-old victim and told her not to make a sound or he would kill her. He ordered her to orally copulate him. When the victim refused, Sharrieff began choking her and she started to lose consciousness.
In 1986 in Sacramento County, Sharrieff removed a screen from an apartment window and climbed into a woman’s bedroom while she slept. When she awoke, Sharrieff covered her mouth and told her to be quiet. When the victim managed to scream, Sharrieff fled.
In 2016, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report that a 15-year-old male had been sexually abused by his mother’s acquaintance, Sharrieff, approximately seven years prior. The victim gave a statement to law enforcement and testified at trial regarding the numerous sexual acts he was made to endure by Sharrieff.
