CASE: Joshua Imber (Case #17FE018232)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Timothy Carr, Homicide Unit

Joshua Imber was convicted by a jury of the first-degree murder of Charles Dynes, and the allegation that Imber shot a firearm causing death was found true. On October 23, 2020, Imber pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The Court also found that Imber has a prior 2000 strike conviction for reckless discharge of a firearm.

On September 27, 2017, Joshua Imber told his ex-girlfriend that he was contemplating suicide and made a remark about shooting her new boyfriend, Mr. Dynes.  Shortly thereafter, Imber went to his ex-girlfriend’s house with a loaded .22 caliber handgun.  Imber encountered Mr. Dynes in the driveway of his ex-girlfriend’s home and shot seven rounds at him.  Mr. Dynes was struck multiple times, including a fatal wound to his head.  Imber fled the scene, but was arrested the next morning in Corning, California.  The murder weapon was found in Imber’s car.

Imber faces a maximum potential sentence of 81 years and 4 months to life in prison.  Sentencing is scheduled for January 15, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 22 before the Honorable Sharon Lueras.
