CASE:  Ricky Gonzalez & Corey Robertson (Case #17FE001859)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Steffens, Adult Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit

Ricky Gonzalez and Corey Robertson were each convicted by a jury of three counts of rape of an intoxicated woman and one count of rape of an unconscious woman. Gonzalez was also convicted of one count of oral copulation of an intoxicated woman.

On July 21, 2016, Gonzalez and Robertson met the three minor female victims at the Roseville Galleria. Two of the victims were 16 years old and the third victim was 17 years old at the time. The defendants drove the victims from the mall to Robertson’s apartment in Antelope, where the defendants provided alcohol to the three victims and drank with them.  The victims became extremely intoxicated and experienced altered levels of consciousness. While the victims were intoxicated and unable to resist, both defendants sexually assaulted all three victims.  The defendants also recorded portions of the assault on a social media app without the consent or knowledge of the victims. One of the victims was hospitalized later that day for alcohol intoxication and had a blood alcohol level of .23%.

Gonzalez faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in state prison. Robertson faces a maximum sentence of 32 years in state prison.  Both defendants will be sentenced on October 29 2020, at 10:30 a.m. in Department 41 before the Honorable David De Alba.
