CASE:  Jose Placencia Iniguez (Case #18FE000818)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Catrina Ranum, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

The Honorable Steven Gevercer sentenced Jose Placencia Iniguez to 275 years to life in prison.  On December 17, 2019, a jury convicted Iniguez of eight counts of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14, five counts of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 by force, duress, menace, or fear and one count of committing a lewd act on a child 14 or 15 years old.  The jury also found true the allegation that Iniguez committed the offenses against more than one victim.

Iniguez sexually assaulted two female family members when they were between the ages of 6 and 14 years old.  The two victims disclosed the abuse to each other and to their family in 2015.  In 2017, three additional female family members disclosed that Iniguez had sexually assaulted them when they were between the ages of 7 and 12 years old. During the investigation, Iniguez fled to Mexico, where he was subsequently arrested and extradited back to the United States to face charges.
