Corey Crawley was convicted by a jury of the second-degree murder of Jason Roberson. The jury found that Crawley personally used a firearm during the commission of the murder. Crawley was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On October 8, 2017, sheriff’s deputies found Mr. Roberson deceased in the area of Truax Court and Edison Avenue. Witnesses indicated that Corey Crawley was a Trigga Mob gang member, and that at the time of the murder he was shooting dice with a friend at a nearby apartment complex. Crawley had a silver revolver with him. During the game, he abruptly got up and left the apartment complex. After shots rang out, Crawley ran back into the complex tucking the revolver into his pants. Crawley then told his friend they had to go. Crawley’s girlfriend was asleep in the car. Crawley handed her the revolver and she put it in her purse. Approximately 24 hours after the murder, Crawley, his girlfriend, and his friend were stopped in a vehicle. The revolver was recovered from the purse. The District Attorney’s Crime Lab matched the revolver to one of the bullets that struck Mr. Roberson.
Crawley faces a maximum sentence of 43 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for September 13, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 14 before the Honorable Tami Bogert.
