CASE:  Darius Wells (Case #16FE004603)

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Catrina Skor, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Darius Wells was convicted by a jury of committing a sex act with a child under 10 years of age and lewd act upon a child.

Wells would watch the victim when the victim’s mother was working.  The night of the incident, the victim’s mother came home from work at 4:00 a.m. and found the three-and-a half-year-old victim was awake and terrified.  The victim told her mother how Wells had hurt her.  The victim’s mother immediately took the victim to the hospital.  Law enforcement responded, and the victim underwent a sexual assault exam.  DNA evidence collected during the exam was a match to Wells.

Wells faces a maximum sentence of 33 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for June 12, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 31 before the Honorable Geritt Wood.
