Defendants Sentenced for Multiple Armed Robberies

The Honorable Allen Sumner sentenced Frank Moppins to 25 years in prison.  An allegation that Moppins has a prior strike conviction for first-degree burglary was found true at the sentencing hearing.  Ceariaco Cabrellis was previously sentenced to 27 years, 8 months in prison.

On September 26, 2018, a jury convicted Ceariaco Cabrellis and Frank Moppins of four counts of robbery with the allegation Cabrellis and Moppins personally used a firearm during the robberies.  Cabrellis was also found to have caused great bodily injury to one of the victims.

On February 4, 2016, Ceariaco Cabrellis and Frank Moppins were at a park smoking marijuana.  When they saw the four victims arrive at the park, the defendants asked them if they had any marijuana to sell or to smoke.  The victims replied they did not have any marijuana and left.  The defendants followed the victims, approached them and asked again if they had any marijuana.  Cabrellis and Moppins then pulled out a gun and ordered the victims to get on the ground face down.  When one of the victims refused, Cabrellis pistol whipped him causing a broken orbital socket and broken nose.  The defendants proceeded to rob the victims of items they had in their possession before fleeing the scene.

Cabrellis had two pending felony cases against him at the time of this offense.
