Defendant Convicted of Attempted Murders of Police Officers, Shooting at Occupied Apartment

Armani Lee was convicted by a jury of attempted murder of a police officer, attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and felon in possession of a firearm.

On February 4, 2017, Armani Lee got into a physical altercation with a female victim.  After the fight was over, Lee pulled out a gun and fired at the victim’s apartment.  Both the victim’s boyfriend and friend were in the apartment at the time of the shooting.

On February 10, 2017, officers tracked Lee to a house and tried to arrest him for the shooting.  Lee fled and fired multiple shots at the officers.  Officers returned fire and hit Lee, who was then taken into custody.

Allegations that Lee suffered prior “strike” convictions for robbery in 2010 and 2006 will be determined at sentencing.

Lee faces a maximum sentence of 139 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for December 7, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 28 before the Honorable Richard Sueyoshi.
