CASE: Oshea Duarte (Case #15F07345)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney Maria Wilson, Gangs & Hate Crimes Unit

Oshea Duarte was convicted by a jury of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, assault with a semiautomatic firearm and illegal possession of a firearm along with sentence enhancements for using a firearm and committing the offenses for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

On November 15, 2015, Oak Park gang member Oshea Duarte conspired with two of his fellow gang members and two females to commit robbery.  The females lured the victim to an area where Duarte and his associates were waiting while armed with handguns.  The men rushed the victim, hit him in the head and face with a gun and stole his personal items.  Duarte fled the area and was apprehended in Santa Barbara more than two years later.  Law enforcement was able to track Duarte down from a post he made on Instagram.

Duarte faces a maximum sentence of 26 years and 4 months in prison.  Sentencing is set for November 16, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 29 before the Honorable Geoffrey Goodman.
