DV Offender Convicted of Attempted Murder, Child Endangerment

Randy Wallace was convicted by a jury of attempted murder with the allegations of premeditation, personal use of a firearm and personal discharging of a firearm causing great bodily injury found true. Wallace was also convicted of two counts of willful child endangerment and making criminal threats.
Wallace and the victim had just ended their relationship. On August 28, 2017, the victim was with her two young children doing errands. When she ran into Wallace on the street, the two got into a verbal altercation. Wallace told the victim he was going to shoot her. He then went into a nearby house, came out holding a gun and shot at the back-rear door and window of the victim’s car where her children were sitting at the time. One of the children received a number of cuts and scrapes from the glass window shattering in his face, including a laceration to his eye. Wallace then shot the victim in the chest, stomach and back of the leg. He hit the victim in the head with the back of the gun before fleeing the scene. Wallace was apprehended on October 5, 2017. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries, but she survived. Wallace has a history of domestic violence and was on active probation at that time of this offense.
Wallace faces a maximum of 38 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for August 17, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 15 before the Honorable Laurel White.
