CASE: Javier Lopez-Diaz (Case #16FE019559)

PROSECUTOR: Deputy District Attorney TeriAnn Grimes, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Javier Lopez-Diaz was convicted by a jury of three counts of lewd and lascivious act on a child under the age of 14, five counts of forcible lewd act upon a child, three counts of forcible oral copulation and two counts of forcible rape.

The victim was 7 years old when Lopez-Diaz started dating her older sister.  Lopez-Diaz began sexually assaulting the victim, and continued the assaults over many years.  Lopez-Diaz‘s conduct escalated to raping the victim.  The victim moved in with her sister and Lopez-Diaz during her senior year of high school.  When the victim was 24 years old, she was able to leave and disclose the abuse she had suffered for so many years.

Lopez-Diaz faces a maximum sentence of 102 years in prison.  Sentencing is set for May 18, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in Department 21 before the Honorable Steve White.
