Defendant Convicted of 10 Counts of Child Sexual Assault

Victor Miroshnichenko was convicted by a jury of two counts of sex act with a child under 10 years old and eight counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14.

When the victim was 9 years old, her grandmother suffered three stokes and came to live with the victim’s family.  Another member of the victim’s family, Miroshnichenko, also came to visit several days each week.  Miroshnichenko began grooming the victim by showing her pornographic books and videos.  When the victim was 10 years old, he began sexually assaulting her for the next two years.  The victim disclosed the abuse in October 2016, when her mom found her hiding in the bathroom after Miroshnichenko had just come out of the bathroom.

Miroshnichenko faces a maximum sentence of 52 years to life in prison.  Sentencing is set for March 16, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 15 before the Honorable Laurel White.
