In-Home Support Services Fraud Task Force
The Sacramento District Attorney has created a new multi-agency task force. In partnership with Department of Human Assistance, Department of Health & Human Services and the California Department of Health Care Services the task force is dedicated in its coordinated efforts to help protect the In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program and its participants.
The goal of the
IHSS program is to avoid costly nursing or care facility placement by
helping people remain safely in their homes. Through IHSS a recipient
can employ a provider to do tasks that they are unable to do
themselves. People who receive services through IHSS must meet income
and resource guidelines. In addition they are either:
-
65 years and
over, or
-
blind, or
-
disabled, or
-
children with disabilities and extraordinary care needs
Fraud in this
program hurts everyone.
Any money
fraudulently paid out within the IHSS program is money the entire
community loses from funds that are needed to pay law enforcement and
our community health care agencies.
With the
cooperation of recipients, providers and community members, we will be
able to ensure that everyone who is entitled to services will continue
to receive these services and that money is not spent on those who
violate the law.
