MEDIA ADVISORY

HELP CATCH “MOST WANTED” DUI OFFENDERS

Beginning today the citizens of Sacramento County can go to the District Attorney’s web site and take a look at some of the “MOST WANTED” repeat Driving Under the Influence (DUI) offenders who currently have outstanding felony and/or misdemeanor warrants for their arrest. The web page shows Recidivist (repeat) DUI offenders who are wanted by the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. It can be accessed by going to the District Attorney’s main web site at www.sacda.org and clicking the quick link to the Recidivist DUI (RED) Team.

In March, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, with funding provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Traffic Safety Administration, established a first-of-its-kind Recidivist DUI Program in Sacramento. The intent of the program is to make our roads and highways safer by targeting repeat DUI offenders who have failed to appear in court for a DUI. The Recidivist DUI team is comprised of two Criminal Investigators (Peace Officers) and a Deputy District Attorney who are experienced in and dedicated to arresting and prosecuting repeat DUI offenders.

The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office encourages anyone with information on the whereabouts of a repeat DUI offender who has failed to appear in court to contact the RED Team. There are four ways to reach a member of the RED Team: you can complete and submit an electronic informational form available on our webpage; you can provide information by sending an email to REDTeam@sacda.org; you can reach them by telephone at 916-874-2450; or you can mail any information you have regarding a Recidivist DUI offender to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, Recidivist DUI Team, 901 G Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
