Insurance Fraud Unit
Telephone: (916) 874 8992

District Attorney Jan Scully announced today that defendant Ralph Taeger was sentenced to one year in county jail and five years of formal probation for under paying his Worker’s Compensation Insurance premiums. Mr. Taeger under paid his insurance premiums over a five year period from March of 1998 through October of 2001. Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Timothy Frawley ordered, and Mr. Taeger has agreed, to pay $161,000.00 in restitution over a two year period to the victim, the State Compensation Insurance Fund.

Deputy District Attorney Jeanne McCullough stated that, “the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is very serious about prosecuting employers who fail to pay the proper amount of Worker’s Compensation Insurance premiums. This serves to protect the rights of employees who are injured in the workplace and preserves the ability of those employers who properly pay their premiums to stay competitive in the marketplace.”
