Date: July 8, 2005
Case: People v. Pablo China Valle
Contact: Roxanne Ball, Special Assaults/Child Abuse,

District Attorney Jan Scully announced today that the Honorable Judge
Emily Vasquez sentenced defendant, Pablo China Valle to forty-one years
to life in prison for the kidnap from a park and sodomy of an
eight-year-old boy.
The defendant was found guilty of six counts of child
molest and two counts of kidnapping. The jury also found “True” six
special allegations, that the defendant kidnapped the victim for
purposes of child molest, bringing the defendant into the “One Strike”
law which allows for consecutive sentences of 25 years to life on each
of these six counts. The jury also made additional findings in
aggravation that the victim was particularly vulnerable and the crimes
involved planning and sophistication.
The boy walked to the park with neighborhood children
to play basketball while his single-mother worked two jobs to support
her family of four children. The defendant enticed the boy into his
vehicle by buying him candy and Nike basketball shoes, then, on several
occasions, took him to an isolated area and sodomized him. The boy was
intimidated by the defendant and warned not to tell.
A detailed investigation by Detective Lauinger and
Detective Koontz of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department resulted
in evidence that was so strong against the defendant that the jury
reached a verdict in less than two hours after a three-week trial which
included over eighty-two exhibits.
Prosecuting Attorney, Roxanne Ball said; “It is due to the efforts of
these two detectives plus the diligence of a neighbor and her children,
and the courage of this little boy that a dangerous child molester is
off the streets.”
