Case: People v. William Adam Kriske, 04F01142

Dubke,
Felony Trials, (916) 874-5816
District Attorney Jan Scully announced that today, in Department 18 of
the Superior Court, The Honorable Judge Meegan sentenced William Kriske
to three consecutive 25-to-life terms for a total of 75 years to life
for convictions of first degree burglary, attempted carjacking, and
resisting arrest, plus an additional eight year sentence enhancement for
prior felony convictions of a serious or violent offense.
In February of 2004, defendant Kriske broke into
Carolyn Lisle’s Rancho Cordova home while she and three friends were
watching television at 9:00 p.m. Defendant Kriske walked through the
closed sliding glass door with an axe handle in his hands. He chased
Carolyn Lisle’s friends out of the front door while Carolyn Lisle went
to her bedroom and retrieved her gun. Ms. Lisle shot the defendant in
the wrist while he was coming toward her on her front porch.
Defendant then attempted to carjack a different
victim up the street. When that victim fought him off, defendant went
further up the street. Later, while defendant was being treated inside
the ambulance, he charged at and nearly struck a Sheriff’s deputy with a
closed fist.
Judge Meegan declined to strike, under Romero,
defendant’s 1974 juvenile adjudication for assault with a deadly weapon
on a peace officer, which was one of the two strike priors that led to
today’s sentence.
According to Deputy District Attorney Caryn McInerney
Dubke, “William Kriske is a violent career criminal who absolutely
terrorized the victim and her friends during this crime spree. That
Rancho Cordova neighborhood came together against the defendant that day
and today’s sentence ensures that he will never harm another citizen.”
