District Attorney Jan Scully announced today the return of a jury verdict in the case of the People of the State of California versus Isaac Sandoval. Defendant Sandoval was charged with the murder of Isidoro Lopez as well as firearm use enhancements and a gang enhancement. The charges stemmed from a chance encounter at the AM/PM Mini Market located at the corner of Elder Creek and Power Inn Road between the defendant, a Norteno gang member, and members of a rival gang. A brief verbal altercation ensued, at which point the defendant produced a handgun and killed the victim. The jury convicted Sandoval of all counts and all enhancements.

Defendant Sandoval will be sentenced on June 17, 2005, in front of the Honorable Greta Curtis Fall in Department 10 of the Superior Court, and faces a potential sentence of 75 years to life.
