District Attorney
Jan Scully and her Citizens Cabinet will chair Sacramento’s Sixth
Annual Public Safety & Community Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday,
May 5, 2005. This event is an opportunity for prayer, reflection and
thanksgiving for Sacramento's public safety community and the citizens
they serve.
Scully and her
Cabinet are joined in this effort by Sheriff Lou Blanas, Police Chief Al
Najera, Folsom Police Chief Sam Spiegel, Probation Chief Verne Speirs,
CHP Commissioner Mike Brown, U.S. Marshal Antonio Amador, Sacramento
Metropolitan Fire Chief Rick Martinez and a host of law enforcement and
fire associations.
Collene Campbell
will be this year’s keynote speaker. She was the first woman Mayor of
the City of San Juan Capistrano, served for 11 years on the “California
Council on Criminal Justice” and was recently re- appointed by Governor
Schwarzenegger to the POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training)
Commission. Ms. Campbell is the founder of MOVE (Memory of Victims
Everywhere), an organization dedicated to strengthening legislation
and laws, and is the National Chair of FORCE 100, an organization
leading the nation’s victims to help gain equal justice through a U.S.
Constitutional Amendment. Other speakers include Officer Zachary Bales
of the Sacramento Police Department, Assistant Chief Dan Haverty of the
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, and 2005 Outstanding Citizen
Award recipient Peter Ly.
Scully describes
this breakfast as, “A wonderful opportunity for citizens to express
appreciation for law enforcement and fire personnel who work so hard to
make our community safe. It also provides those of us who work in
public safety the opportunity to thank Sacramento citizens for the
support they give us and recommit ourselves to continuing our efforts to
build stronger relationships and partnerships with the community we
serve."
The breakfast will
be held at the Radisson Hotel. Seating begins at 6:30 a.m. The
breakfast and program will begin at 7:00 a.m. Tickets are $10.
Attendance is open to everyone in the community.
