District Attorney Jan Scully announced today the return of a jury verdict in the case of the People of the State of California versus Yong Lor. Defendant Lor was charged with two counts of attempted murder with firearm use enhancements stemming from a gang related shooting. Lor, a known Hmong Nation Society gang member, shot two people. The jury convicted Lor of all counts and all enhancements.
Defendant Lor will be sentenced on December 17, 2004, in front of the Honorable Gary S. Mullen in Department 41 of the Superior Court, and faces a potential sentence of 70 years to life.
Deputy District Attorney Hilary Bagley, who prosecuted the case, was quoted as saying ”Defendant Yong Lor is a violent criminal who will never terrorize the streets of Sacramento again.”
