The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office announced today that it will not take action against the Sacramento Transportation Authority, or any of its employees, for a mailer concerning Measure A on the November ballot. The Sierra Club had complained the mailer violated state law prohibiting a public agency from using public funds to support or oppose a ballot measure. The District Attorney determined that the mailer did not take a position for or against Measure A. The law allows a public agency to provide information about the possible effects of a ballot measure. The District Attorney concluded the mailer in question fell within this permitted use of Transportation Authority funds.
