Gang Unit
Telephone: 874-8406
District Attorney Jan Scully announced the successful
completion of the case against Darryl Alexander. On June 7, 2004, a
jury found the defendant guilty of attempted murder with attendant gun
and gang allegations. The Honorable Judge Greta Fall sentenced him today
to 40 years to life in prison.
Deputy District Attorney Thomas Asker, who prosecuted
the case, indicated, "From a distance of 10 feet, Darryl Alexander
fired all six shots with his .38 caliber revolver into a car occupied
by four teenagers. He had never met nor spoken to them before, but perceived
them to be rival gang members. One of the teenagers was shot through
the face and survived. This was a classic, senseless gang shooting,
the end of which can only be achieved by sending triggermen like Darryl
Alexander to prison for life."
