District Attorney Jan Scully and her Citizens Cabinet will chair Sacramento's
Fifth Annual Public Safety & Community Appreciation Breakfast on
Wednesday, April 28, 2004. This event is an opportunity for prayer,
reflection and thanksgiving for Sacramento's public safety community
and the citizens they serve.
Scully and her Cabinet are joined in this effort
by Sheriff Lou Blanas, Police Chief Al Najera, Folsom Police Chief Sam
Spiegel, Probation Chief Verne Speirs, CHP Commissioner Spike Helmick,
U.S. Marshall Antonio Amador, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Chief Rick
Martinez and a host of law enforcement and fire associations.
John W. Gillis, Director of the Justice Department's
Office for Victims of Crime will be this year's keynote speaker. Mr.
Gillis has a long and distinguished career in victim advocacy and law
enforcement. In addition to having served with the Los Angeles Police
Department for sixteen years, Mr. Gillis is the founder of Victims &
Friends United and co-founder of Justice for Homicide Victims and the
Coalition of Victims Equal Rights. Other speakers include a police officer
from Folsom Police Department, a Captain from the Sacramento City Fire
Department, and 2004 Outstanding Citizen Award recipient Katerina Prindle.
Scully describes this breakfast as, "A wonderful
opportunity for citizens to express appreciation for law enforcement
and fire personnel who work so hard to make our community safe. It also
provides those of us who work in public safety the opportunity to thank
Sacramento citizens for the support they give us and recommit ourselves
to continuing our efforts to build stronger relationships and partnerships
with the community we serve."
The breakfast will be held at the Radisson Hotel.
Seating begins at 6:30 a.m. The breakfast and program will begin at
7:00 a.m. Tickets are $10.
