Case: People v. Keith Hugh Jensen, Case Number 02F09287
Contact: Lani L. Biafore, Deputy District Attorney
Domestic Violence Unit, (916) 874-7890

District Attorney Jan Scully announced today the sentencing of Keith Hugh Jensen to fifteen (15) years in state prison for violations of Penal Code Section 262(1)(1)-spousal rape with force, Penal Code Section 236-false imprisonment with violence, and Penal Code Section-422 criminal threats of harm. On March 26, 2004, the Honorable James I. Morris sentenced the Defendant to 15 years in state prison. At the sentencing, the Defendant refused to accept responsibility for his actions and continued to blame the legal system for his woes.

On May 4, 2002, the Defendant was released from jail. He called his estranged wife and asked her to pick him up. She at first refused, then went to pick up a female friend to accompany her. She and the friend then picked up the Defendant, who appeared intoxicated. Once in the vehicle, the Defendant started grabbing the victim's neck, pulling her hair and calling her derogatory names. When the victim told the Defendant she was going to leave him he replied, "I'll kill anyone who is close to you until nobody wants you…I'll bring your world to an end." The Defendant then told the victim to drive him to a friend's house. Upon arrival the Defendant demanded entry to the house and ordered the occupants out of a bedroom. He then pulled the victim by her shirt into the bedroom and slapped the back of her head with his hand. In the bedroom, the Defendant continued to threaten the victim and she was not free to leave. He then told her to remove her clothes because he was going to have sex with her. The victim complied because she knew he was going to physically force her. The Defendant then raped the victim. The victim eventually fled the house and the scene.

Deputy District Attorney Lani Biafore stated, "The successful prosecution of this matter is due to the tenacity of the victim and her family. The Defendant is a bully who abused, intimidated and harassed the victim for years. He felt his status as her husband entitled him to mistreat her anyway he pleased.
