District Attorney Jan Scully and her Citizens
Cabinet will chair the Third Annual Public Safety & Community Appreciation
Breakfast on Thursday, May 2, 2002 to take time for prayer, reflection
and thanksgiving for Sacramento's public safety community and the citizens
they serve. Scully and her Cabinet are joined in this effort by Sheriff
Lou Blanas, Police Chief Arturo Venegas, Probation Chief Verne Speirs,
Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Chief Rick Martinez, Sacramento City Fire
Chief Dennis Smith, CHP Commissioner Dwight Helmick, the Law Enforcement
Chaplaincy, the Sacramento Area Fire Chaplaincy, and a host of law enforcement
associations.
Jan Scully notes, "This breakfast provides an
opportunity for citizens to express appreciation for firefighters, cops,
prosecutors, probation officers and others who work so hard to make
our community safe. On the other hand, we in public safety can use this
occasion to thank Sacramento citizens for the support they give us and
recommit ourselves to continuing our efforts to build stronger relationships
and partnerships with the community we serve."
This year's breakfast will be held May 2, 2002
at 6:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel at 500 Leisure Lane. Lt. Col. Dave
Grossman, an internationally recognized author, soldier, and speaker
who is an expert in the field of human aggression and the roots of violence
and violent crime will be speaking. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased
