MEDIA ADVISORY Guns in the hands of children are a deadly combination. Recognizing the immeasurable human and financial toll that gun violence wreaks on families, schools, and communities, District Attorney Jan Scully invited Sacramento City Fire Chief Dennis Smith, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Chief Rick Martinez, Sacramento Police Chief Arturo Venegas and Sacramento Sheriff Lou Blanas to join with her to bring a youth gun-violence education and prevention program to Sacramento schools. After months of preparation, this program, GIFT [Gun Violence Information for Teens] is ready to be unveiled. District Attorney Jan Scully, her Community Prosecutors and public safety partners, invite you to a press conference to learn about this worthwhile program which involves educating students about the legal, medical and emotional consequences of youth gun possession and violence.
