DA Anne Marie Schubert Announces
3rd Annual Youth Academy

District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert announces that student applications are now being accepted for the 3rd Annual Youth Academy, a program in partnership with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento County Probation Department, Sacramento County Public Defender's Office, Rancho Cordova Police Department, Elk Grove Police Department and Galt Police Department.

Students will actively learn about the criminal justice system, hear from our criminal justice partners, and engage in open communication with law enforcement about issues that affect youth today. 

Topics include: anatomy of a criminal case, race as a factor in the criminal justice system, use of force, gun violence, gangs, dating violence, human trafficking, marijuana, crime scene investigation and evidence, and distracted driving.  A career fair will be held at graduation.

Classes will be held twice a month in the evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at FOUR locations:

Tuesdays: September 19, 2017 - March 20, 2018

Roberts Family Development Center

*An optional one-day field trip is scheduled to tour the Sacramento Superior Court

The program is open to current Sacramento County high school students.  Students can apply for either the South, North, East or Elk Grove/Galt area academy by submitting a completed application, which can be downloaded at  Space is limited and on a first come, first served basis. 

The deadline to apply is September 8, 2017

DA Schubert states, “Given the success and overwhelming interest in the academy, we have added three law enforcement agency partners and two additional academy classes since the program’s launch in 2015.  This expansion will help us achieve our goal of reaching as many students as possible throughout the county and engage them in a positive relationship with members of the criminal justice system.”
