Richard Lee Hranac Jr. was convicted by a jury of four counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years of age, five counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years of age or younger and two counts of sexual intercourse with a child 10 years of age or younger.
From 2007 to 2011, the victim’s mother was constantly in and out of the hospital due to a medical condition. The victim was often left in the care of Hranac, who started sexually abusing the victim when she was 7 years old until just days before her 11th birthday. In January 2011, the victim was placed in the custody of a family member. She was initially afraid to report the abuse, but disclosed the abuse after her mother passed away in 2013.
Hranac faces a maximum sentence of 139 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for February 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Department 12 before the Honorable Maryanne Gilliard.
