Defendant Convicted of 18 Counts of Child Molestation

CASE:  Richard Lee Betz

PROSECUTOR:  Deputy District Attorney Nancy Cochrane, Special Assault & Child Abuse Unit

Thirty-seven-year-old Richard Lee Betz was convicted by a jury of 18 counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14 years old. 

Between 2003 and 2011, Betz molested a female family member in numerous residences within the county of Sacramento starting when the victim was six years old until she was 13 years of age.

Betz faces a maximum potential sentence of 42 years in prison.  Sentencing is set for August 26, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. in Department 19 before the Honorable Patrick Marlette.
